You Have No Say in Anything At All. (50x70cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2017. FOR SALE Contact for details
A change from my usual landscapes, to express a point I feel is increasingly true these days. I painted this from my own imagination rather than using any actual subject matter, other than a few preliminary sketches I made, scribbled at a pub table, when I got the idea. This helped stop me inclining to a more realist work which I wanted to avoid. I tweaked the painting till I got it how I wanted, paying particular attention to the facial expressions of the five figures.

Dale Street Looking North, Manchester. (50x40cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2014. FOR SALE. Contact for details.
The southern area of the Northern Quarter near Piccadilly Basin is full of character and is quintessentially mancunian despite it being used frequently in film location as a substitute for New York and I wish there were more acres of such blocks.

As I Walked Through Bury. (50x40cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2014. SOLD.
Whilst showing paintings at Bury Art Gallery, I went for a walk around the centre and explored what was a relatively unknown town to me. It was a sunny spring day.

St. Ann's Square, East, Manchester, No. 4. 40x50cm Acrylic on board. Painted 2017. FOR SALE. Contact for details.
This is the fourth version I have painted of an St. Ann's Square in Manchester looking Eastwards. My main compositional preoccupation was on use of colours and effects to produce a joyously harmonious yet stimulating unwordly effect, even though it is a representation of an actual place, distorted by being processed through my mind's eye.
Available as a signed, limited edition print.

The Queen's Head, Underbank, Stockport. (40x50cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2012.FOR SALE price available on request.
Also known as Turner's vaults, this reputedly haunted pub is well known for its heritage interior and the smallest gents toilet in the Western hemisphere. It's located in the oldest part of Stockport with many cobbled passageways and winding steps up to the Victorian market and I tried to capture some of that alluring yet strange historic atmosphere in this painting.

Underbank (Looking South), Stockport. (50x40cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2014.FOR SALE. Contact for details
This is the view from St. Petersgate bridge looking down on Underbank below as it winds its way up to Robinson's Brewery. This old part of Stockport is, for me, the most interesting and characterful part of the town.

Terraced Houses No. 2 (Streets in Manchester) (50x70cm Acrylic on board.) Painted 2012.FOR SALE. Contact for details.
A second version of the terraced house theme painting from imagination but based on many streets found all over the city. This time with some trees included which makes it even less correspondent to the reality/realism than giving all the figures the fantastically proportioned heads and making them ironically niave.
