The Moving Manchester project which has been run by Lancaster University for the last three years and involved the use of many of my paintings is coming to its end later this year and a Grand Finalé is to be held over the 9-12th September 2009 in the form of a major international conference entitled ‘Glocal Imaginaries: Writing / Migration / Place’ which is expected to be attended by 200-300 delegates. The culmination of all this will be an event at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester M15 6ER12 where several of my latest paintings will be exhibited as my artwork was used throughout the course of the project. It is described on the Lancaster University website as an event that ‘will feature readings, talks and performances by a number of well-known writers and artists as well as an exhibition of the work of artists (that would be me!), photographers, writing groups and community arts’ organisations involved with issues of migration.‘ More information about it can be found here.
