I am very pleased to announce, so much so that I feel like singing, that a collection of 27 mostly brand new works I’ve painted over the last year or so are to be exhibited at The Portico Library & Gallery, 57 Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3HY Tel: 0161 236 6785, from Thursday 1st May (private view 6-8pm) until Thursday 29th May 2008. Admission is free! This is my second exhibition at the Portico Library and Gallery, the previous very succesful one being in 2005. It is curated by the lovely Charlotte Wand. The title of the exhibition is ‘Rhapsody in Red Brick‘ and alludes to the vibrant style of my paintings expressed through artworks that often portray the characteristically red-brick buildings of Manchester. Although most of the new works are scenes of Manchester in my usual style, often on larger 50x70cm canvas rather than the usual 40x50cm, some of them are more experimental and show a figurative subject matter. More info about the exhibition can be found in the April edition of the Portico Quarterly Magazine (on Page 5) here. The featured painting in the Portico Information seen above, is ‘Bars on Deansgate, Manchester, No. 2, (at Night)‘ (50x70cm Acrylic on Board.)
