I’m very pleased to announce that my painting ‘The Peveril of the Peak No. 4 (at night)‘ was chosen as one of the finalists in the Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition 2010 as run by Aesthetica Magazine. It was shortlisted from over 12,000 entries, which was a lot of competition! An image of the painting and some blurb about it appears in a compendium of the finalists entitled ‘Creative Works Annual 2010’ which also includes poetry and fiction writing along with the visual arts and it is available in both digital and paper format from the Aesthetica shop at £7.95 here. As it says in the description of it: ‘Inside this collection you will find poetry, artworks and fiction that stimulate debate and evoke conversation. The artists included are the winners and finalists from the Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition.‘ More information about the competition and the other finalists can be found at the Aesthetica Blog here. A photograph of each finalist was required for this blog and in my submitted photo I sort of tried to make an allusion to the winning finalist which appears on the cover, (see above!) by having my picture taken surrounded by books, yet my cat was hanging around at the time and also decided to get in on the picture, as can be seen! Think it was time for her dinner or something. No respect for art, that cat.
