I have two paintings showing and offered for sale at a discounted rate at the Stockport Open Contemporary Exhibition, or Skarts as it’s known. The Queen’s Head Pub and Underbank Looking South. The reason they are at a discounted rate is because I painted five paintings of Stockport upon request as part of a proposed exhibition at the Colourfield Gallery in Poynton, yet this fell through and so I was obliged to sell these works of Stockport, not my usual subject matter, independently, and have sold two of them but three remain. The featured painting is of of the Queen’s Head pub on Underbank. These paintings of Stockport I made were mostly (IE 4 of them!) of the characterful, old area around Underbank and the Victorian market which, in my opinion, is the best bit of the Town Centre, much more interesting than the adjacent Merseyway Shopping Precinct and other bits, full of winding, cobbled alleys and heritage buildings, all of which I found inspirational as well as pleasant area to be in. It contains a bevy of pubs and some quirky cafes, boutique shops and such. Long may it flourish! The show is at Stockport Art Gallery, Wellington Road South, Stockport, SK3 8AB and runs from Sun 24th July – Sat 3rd Sept with a preview on 23rd July. Opening Hours:Tuesday – Friday: 1pm – 5pm: Saturday: 10am – 5pm: Sunday:11am – 5pm: Mondays: Closed. Admission is Free. For more info about the show please click here.
